Ruby has also increased in popularity and, with 4355 girls sharing the name, it is the second most popular choice for names for girls in 2007. It is also the name of singer Charlotte Church’s and rugby player Gavin Henson’s daughter. Also popular last year was Emily which climbed to fourth place this year, with Jessica falling two places to fifth.
Classic name Evie has climbed 46 places in the last five years, making it the 15th most popular choice for girls in 2007. TV Presenter Myleene Klass chose Ava, a classic Hollywood name for her daughter who was born in August.
