You’ve written your birth plan and painted the nursery, but there’s still one aspect of childbirth you can’t prepare for in advance – the amount of time you’ll stay for in hospital. It will depend on a number of factors, including how you delivered your newborn, your health and your baby’s, and whether breastfeeding has been established. But, no matter how long you’re on the labour ward, remember you’ll be surrounded by experts who are dedicated to looking after you and your baby.
