French Justice minister went back to work 5 days after giving birth via C- section. Daily Mail appear to be applauding her for looking as glamorous as ever, but she's just had a major op! Would a male who'd had a hernia op return to work so soon and is she neglecting her child at such a cruicial bonding time for both?

yes....I really cannot see why on earth she has bothered to have a baby
Apparently her career was hard won as she is the first female Moslem minister France has had (from a poor Morrocan family) so she obviously had to fight hard to get on top and feels she has to fight hard to stay on top but at the same time she is quoted as saying it is a fundamental part of her life to have a child.
In my experience you do not fit a child into your life - your life has to fit around that child. There's also the other issue of women being expected to behave as if they were men - at that level in their careers - which is awful.
Rant over - for now until I think of something else

thats just silly and plain ignorance imo... why have a baby if you dont bother "having" it afterwards?

it is not compulosy to have a child - some women who are clearly not willing to put in the commitment that motherhood requires - should remember this.
why did she have a baby?

It reminds me of ''A dog is for life, not just for christmas'' lol. Why don't people take seriously the job of parenting? If she carries on this way, I just feel so sorry for that child. Always second best to its mothers career.

I have an 8 day old baby born by c-section and I could have physically gone back to my job after 5 days (desk job). But who would want to??? I'm happy to sit home all day and cuddle my newborn and play with my toddler!
She is gonna miss out on so much, she will never get this time back.

Its illegal to return to work until 2 wks after you give birth in the uk.
I don't think its neglect at all i think thats a bit of an ott reaction myself.
I don't however see that it was remotely necessary esp for someone of her wealth!

I wouldnt want to be her to feel like she HAS to go back to work so soon after having a baby just to keep her status ( high profile justice minister) where it was before she had baba. Its going to be her that loses out on this special time, what a shame
