My grandmother's were called Agnes & Hilda.  Can't ever imagine those two particular names coming back

We used my Grampa's name as Harry's middle name, so he is Harry Dennis Grant. I really like the older names around for girls, not as keen on the ones for little boys though.

I agree there is a huge revival of older names, but I quite like it! At least it means they will still pretty normal after say 40 years. I can't imagine in 60 years when we have a generation of Grandad Zachs or Granny Chardonnay! (no offense meant id this is your, or your children's names!)

I think a lot more of the names we consider old fashioned will make a comeback.

Re: Old Fashioned Names?

I quite like the old fashioned names, so much so I chose Oliver and Harry as my boys names, we would have used Evie for a girl.

I couldn't imagine calling my children something like Apple although that isn't so bad, compared to Rumor and Scout!  Think it was David Bowie's son who changed his name from Zowie to something a bit less strange and tbh who could blame him?

I think naming your children is a very big responsibility and as such we should think about what our children will feel like when they have grown up being called Ratfink or something equally stupid all their lives.

I think all names go in cycles...I think I read somewhere (I'm paraphrasing) that in about 40 years time names like Tracey, Sharon etc may come back in use, as our children will be looking to older members of their family for name inspiration!

I like old fashioned names, I wanted Cecily or Winnifred for a girl...Winne for short is so sweet. Ollie has a little friend called Arthur, which I love...I think these are all names that won't date.

Demi Moore's girls do have unusual names...but they are 'Old' names in themselves...Rumer is after the writer Rumer Godden (Black narcissus is a great book!) and Scout is after the young girl from the novel 'To kill a mockingbird', I love both names!
