Lilly hasn't got cradle cap, but going back to when my 11yr old was a baby he had it really bad (don't remember it smelling but was long time ago) I was recommended to rub baby oil into it, I must admit i didn't do it for very long so don't know how well it works but Jonathan still had small patches when he started school but did clear up by itself.
Think they do a special shampoo for it now (not sure as not had to think about it) but have seen something in tesco in baby section x

I use dentinox cradle cap shampoo, worked after about a week i think. i would get h/v to have a look if it smells though could be a yeast infection too.

thanks.
if it was a yeast infection is that like thrush or something?
and could it affect my breasts as i am breast feeding and gone very sore but not sore as in cracked nipple, sore as in really itchy etc?

Finley has had cradle cap on and off since birth. I tried all sorts of stuff and nothing really worked. In the end the doc gave me some polytar shampoo for him and it got a little better although his scalp is still quite dry.
Just wanted to say though it never smelt of anything so I would take her to the gp.
xx
Jem, i would get to your h/v asap, if it is thrush it can be very painful to b/f. lucy has had thrush twice in her mouth (just white, shiny coating on tongue) and i had deep shooting pains in the breast and itching too. it's easy to treat so worth getting checked out. let us know how you get on, jo xx

I used just jonsons baby oil on my sons cradle cap, it took a couple of weeks to go, put it on with cotton wool and leave it on for a hour or so then wipe over i found this to work.

well went to doc on friday and tbh think it was waste of time! he just said nothing he can do and to get myself some shampo to try or olive oil!
then told me sore brests are a normal thing (yeh but there not sore as in cracked more itchy and red) but he would not have it, just made me feel as if was wasting his time!
so will give it till monday and then go to baby clinic see hv xx

olive oil is supposed to work , my in-laws swear by it , they seem to use olive oil for all ailments lol, however if it doesnt work try baby oil , i used it on my lo when she had cradle cap ( i didnt fancy using the olive oil )and it did work

I found plain water to wash the hair and baby soap instead of shampoo or anything cleared cradle cap better than anything else.
