The winners of the Mother & Baby Big Heart Awards, in support of premature baby charity Bliss were finally announced at a glamorous ceremony in a top London hotel on Wednesday 13th January.

These unique awards recognise extraordinary people who have struggled against adversity, turning tragedy around to make a positive difference to their families or others in need.

The winner of the Big Heart Neonatal unit of the year award is Jessop Wing in Sheffield.

Joshua Emsley was born extremely premature at just 26 weeks and had to be transferred immediately to the Jessop Wing in Sheffield, where he would stay for five and a half weeks. The one-to-one care at Sheffield was invaluable and the staff always had time for parents, Nicola and Neil, not matter what time it was. One of the nurses even helped name Joshua at 4am. Despite it being the worst time in their lives, Nicola and Neil have great memories of the time they spent in the unit thanks to the help and support of staff.
