Video: Child Safety Week

A survey by the Child Accident Prevention Trust of over 1,000 parents and grandparents of under fives has shown that families are falling down on basic steps to keep their children safe

Accidents are the second biggest killer of children in the UK with six children dying every week and over 2,000 admitted to hospital. Most families are aware of the dangers to children but an alarming number of parents and grandparents don’t put their knowledge into practice or have worrying gaps in their knowledge.

To mark the launch of 2008’s Child Safety Week (23rd June – 29th June), the Child Accident Prevention Trust are urging people to ‘make a change, make a difference’. By thinking about their everyday behaviour and routines, parents and grandparents can go some way to bringing down the number of childhood accidents.
