New Baby

Preparing your child for the arrival of her new sibling can start when the new baby is little more than a twinkle in your eye. Once your baby has arrived, your older child may be as thrilled as you are - but don’t be surprised, or disappointed, if she isn’t. Relationships can change. Given enough love, patience and understanding even children who seem to dislike their baby brothers or sisters do learn to love them. If you’ve had a hospital birth, make sure your older child either comes to help collect you or is busy at home helping with the preparations. If he’s staying at Grandma’s house, it may make him feel left out and pushed aside.
