Mothers travelling on buses with their children may soon have even less space to park a pushchair.A report by the Department of Transport has pin pointed mothers with buggies taking up disabled spaces as an problem to be addressed to ‘improve the bus journey experience for everyone’. The issue of mothers and their prams is placed alongside smoking and drunkenness on board in the report, which aims to address ‘the behaviour of passengers and staff’ on buses. The report states: ‘We are taking the opportunity to seek views on ways of addressing issues regarding the behaviour of passengers and staff. These issues include:‘a) Concerns of older and/or disabled passengers about drivers accelerating quickly away from bus stops, without giving them time to sit down; ‘b) Wheelchair space being occupied by prams or pushchairs thereby depriving wheelchair users' access to the bus; ‘c) Smoking, consumption of alcohol and drunkenness on the bus.’The government has also proposed a nationwide ban on alcohol on buses.Have your sayWhat do you think about the pram issue? Discuss with other mums.
