My baby was born with teeth!

My daughter was born teething! It's a rarity but it does happen. Being a new mum and watching her every move I took her to the doctor thinking that she had an ear infection as she was in pain and pulling at her head a lot.

The doctor checked her ears, which were fine and then thankfully ran her finger around her gums. Low and behold - she found a tooth - a canine to be exact, half way through her tiny gum!

We have a saying in Northern Ireland that the first one to notice a baby's first tooth should buy him/her their first pair of shoes - needless to say, my GP was not forthcoming!

So - what do you give a week old baby for teething pain relief? I obviously couldn't give her paracetamol or ibuprofen as she was too young and she couldn't use a teething ring either.

I was at my wits end until I discovered Ashton & Parsons powders. They are little sachets of homeopathic powders to help with pain and distress, especially during teething, in infants from birth onwards.

I gave my daughter the specified dose and within minutes she calmed and a look of sheer relief came over her tiny face. I continued to give them to her whenever she needed and although I don't know how they worked, I can only say that they did.

She cut all of her teeth early and in random fashion so tooth/gum pain remained a problem. However, rather than resorting to ibuprofen or paracetamol when she was teething, I always tried the powders first and they almost always worked.

I hope this helps other mums who either have a baby born teething - my daughter's dentist tells me that Louix IV was born with teeth too!
