- You can’t be fired for being pregnant – that’s the law. This applies however long you’ve been working for your employer and whether you work part-time or full-time.
- Tell your employer at least 15 weeks before the beginning of the week your baby's due - but he or she may guess before then!
- You’re entitled to paid time off for antenatal appointments as well as to health and safety protection, so it may be best to share your news.
- You don’t have to stop work when it’s convenient for your boss! When you start maternity leave is your decision – you can work until the day you give birth if you want. The earliest you can start your leave is 11 weeks before your expected week of childbirth.
