My first child was stillborn at 35 weeks of gestations and I had a C-section. The reasons for this are not clear, but doctors tell us it was a combination of blood clotting and gestational diabetes. After that I have had another 2 C-sections (all of 3 pregnancies occurred within 3 years, which resulted to now having 2 healthy children). Is it possible to have a 4th C -section? If we do get pregnant again, natural delivery is presumably out of the question?

i asked my consultant after i had my son in june and he said it used 2 b 3 sections but they cant stop people coming in and having them, he said i should be fine having 4 as i want 2 mor children. i also got told by the mw that the scar tissue heals quicker and gets stronger if u dont leave it as long between section xxx

I have had 4 C sections and am currently expecting my 5th child. So far have had no problems with any of my operations or afterwards. I am only 9 weeks pregnant at the moment after an unplanned accident and have only seen the GP as yet, but he didn't seem that concerned and said that though there were risks he didn't feel they were that high. I also have a friend who is a midwife and she said pretty much the same. Hope this helps.

I am currently pregnant with my third baby and my previous two were born by C section. My son was born in 2007 by emergency C section due to his positioning and then 13 months later I had my daughter by elective C section. My consultant had encouraged me to have a vaginal birth with my daughter but after being told on a 36 week scan that my baby was on the 97th percentile(!) and due to other factors like having an unbillical hernia I decided to go for the C section. I have done a lot of internet research on C sections, I actually don't want another one this time but am concerned I won't be allowed to try for a vaginal birth after two previous C sections, and I have read stories of lots of women having four and more C sections and so long as you have no complications during/after birth then I don't believe you will ever be told not have any more children. As for the time in between each C section, during my six week check with my son I asked how long I should wait before trying again (my husband was very keen to have another straight away!!) my doctor told me that there was no time limit and I could try as soon as I wanted, hence the 13 month age gap!! At no point was anyone (doctors, midwives, consultants) concerned by the close gap and they aren't concerned again by a two year gap, perhaps because thankfully I haven't had any complications previously. I hope this helps

Hi Elena. It is quite a worrying subject as I myself was worried about it. I have had 3 C-sections myself. The 1st was an emergency after 5 days of slow labour, my 2nd also was an emergency after a very slow labour, by the 3rd I was given an elective C-section as the hospital I was having my baby in go by if you have had 2 C-sections the next will automatically be a section. During my 3rd C-section I did ask if I should stop having children after 3 because I also had heard that you should only have 3 C-sections & if that was true I was going to get steralised to safe the risk, they told me that they recommend no more than 3-5 C-sections. If I was you I would personally speak to your consultant & get as much medical advice as possible. All the best. xx
