I'm 36 wks. I saw midwife last week and the baby was head down but not engaged. Over the last 2 days, I've hard pressure on my pubic bone. Do you think this is baby engaging? Also, what does a mucus plug look like? Does it have to be blood stained? Twice I have have found snot like jelly in my knickers. The first time was a little bit, second time there was clump of it. It didn't smell and didn't have any blood. Could this could be plug? Also is it safe to have sex? Do you think labour could be coming?

hi there, it doesnt sound like your plug....your 'show' is that!an amount of jelly that usually is slightly blood stained and quite an amount, n it does take a few times goin to the toilet 2 clean yourself...so not a tiny amount at all. you do get much more discharge in l8r pregnancy due to the hormones and the baby pressing on your pelvis but this is normal...just stock up on panty liners!lol but a show is more like a jelly than snot like, its runny but not sticky!but doesnt have an odour either! n its completely safe 2 have sex in pregnancy...especially towards the end as it can bring laour on naturally!!!my midwife was obsessed with telling me 2 have plenty of rough sex as of 37 weeks!bit freaky really...my chap thoght hed died n gone 2 heaven!!!lol labour will happen, but just do the usual 2 kick start it!but i would want 2 w8 till i was 37-38 weeks myself. hope this helps! ellyxxx

Hi I had exactly the same symptoms as you, but it turned out it wasn't the mucus plug as I passed this when I went into hospital (after my contractions became every 10mins). It is a bit hard to describe, but it is like one whole piece of a jellylike substance and is creamy-yellowy coloured with a tinge of pink. It doesn't hurt, but it does feel like a plug coming out - sounds delightful doesn't it! My midwife told me it is quite normal at that stage to pass a mucus when you are in the last stage of pregnancy so try not to worry. Hope everything goes well for you. Louisa x
