I am due to return back to work in Jan 09, but I have decided that I would like to return part-time. Mon - Thurs only, but my boss has asked if I would consider doing Tues - Fri instead as I would miss quite a few Mondays. Can she ask me to do this? I am sure they are only asking me to do this so they can get out of paying me the bank holidays. Is there anyway of finding out if this is legal?

Can my boss make me work Tue-Fri when I wish to work Mon-Thurs?

You are allowed to request any working hours you choose and your employers are only allowed to decline it if it has a negetive impact on business. I would sugest having a sit down with them and maybe working out hours that would suit all round. There may be some compromising on both sides needed though. Good luck!

they cant make you do any hours that you dont want you to do in the bumper packs we get after having a baby there is normally leaflets about this stuff in there and it states in one of them that your boss has to work around you because of having a child so they shouldnt be trying to get you to work other days if you have already stated what you can do.also you could try a search engine like yahoo and typing in something like going back to work after maternity and you should find more factual answers there hope iv helped a little x
