Hey Im new to this site. But i'm 32 weeks pregnant with my second child, my son is 3 and half. He had a dummy from 6 months till early this year. The only advice i can give you is, go cold turkey and stick to your guns. At first i stopped during the day, only in bed. Then one night i forgot where i'd put it and he went without, the next few nights just became easier and easier. As long as she has a teddy to comfort. Fin still has his monkey and i would never take that away. You will find that her speech will improve immediately, although her fingers may be in her mouth while she does things, as a comfort, My son still does. Good luck and stay strong its worth it!! Take care , Lx

I must admit i just did the cold turkey job, he would ask for his dummy and i'd say i can't find it love, it only took a few nights and he stopped asking!

My 2 year old left his dummy for santa and santa left him some presants. You could do the same with the easter bunny. I was really surprised at how easy this was. He only asked for his dummy a few times and each time we reminded him what he had done. The key is to be strong and consistant and make sure that there are no dummies left around so the child can find them again. Don't give the child a dummy if they have a bad night this will just confuse them.

i have just weaned my 3yr old off his dummy. i know he's a bit older, so slightly more susceptable to bribary, but it worked for us. we got a money box and a 'special place' to put his dummy, so every nite b4 he went to bed, he got to put his dummy in the special place and say good nite to it and then if he left it there all nite, then he got to put money in his own special money box. we made lots of fuss when he did it and i swear he's got more money than me now!!! good luck!
