I was sterilised 5 years ago and I regreted it straight away. I was not in the right frame of mind to be making decisions like that. I have been to my GP but they won't reverse my sterilisation on the NHS so I have to go private. There is also the option of IVF treatment. I was wondering if anyone has had a sterilisation reversal or gone down the IVF route? Which would you say would be the better option both financialy and health wise? And what is the rate of success in both?

Hi there, I looked at all my options before having a sterilisation reversal - which I had done on Tuesday! IVF has a very low success rate and you only get one go at it. Im very sore and the reversal is a major operation, however I now have the opportunity of trying for a baby until my time runs out naturally! Its around the same price as one go at IVF (I paid £3,800) and a much higher success rate. Ive been given an 80% success rate, whereas IVF was 20%. Wish you all the very best for the future, let me know what you decide!

hi i had four children by the time i was 22,i decided to get sterilised and went ahead with it,i had a reversal of sterilisation after about 8 years which was more painful than the actual sterilisation,i subsequently had 2 more children and am now pregnant again with a surprise..i was very fortunate in that it was paid for by the nhs,the only thing that worried me about concieving again was the risks of ectopic pregnancy...i would look at your options before making a decision ivf may be a less painful option without added worry of ectopic pregnancy
